Accommodation and Directions

All non-Exeter participants are being accommodated on campus at Holland Hall (http://www.exeter.ac.uk/virtualtours/accommodationbroadband/holland.shtml) which is very close to the Physics Building. Everyone has an ensuite room including brearkfast at a cost £34.95 per night. You will be expected to pay for your accommodation at the Holland Hall Porter's Lodge. The Porter's Lodge is open from 10am to 10pm and accepts cash or credit cards. Those people arriving after 10pm will need to go to the Estate Patrol office at Northcott House (number 12 on the map below) to collect your keys. You will then need to pay for your accommodation in the morning. If you are arriving by taxi you may wish to have the taxi wait while you get the key before carrying on to Holland Hall.

See the table below for the nights your accommodation has been booked for (Monday and Tuesday means you are arriving on Monday and leaving on Wednesday).

Flight information

The easiest ways to get to Exeter from outside the UK are via Exeter International Airport (EXT), Bristol International Airport (BRS), and London Heathrow (LHR). Other less easy routes might include Birmingham or Cardiff.

Recommendations:

FlyBe runs Exeter-Paris flights that will be easy for many of you (Monday arrival in Exeter 21:10, Wednesday departure for Paris 17:35 with arrival at 20:05). You might also consider whether you can fly into Paris from your closest airport and then hop across the channel from Paris to Exeter.

Other potentially relevant flights are:

Exeter Airport (http://www.exeter-airport.co.uk/site/1/Scheduled_Services.html): France (Paris, Nice, Avignon, Bergerac, Brest, Rennes), Netherlands (Amsterdam), UK (Edinburgh), Spain (Tenerife, Alicante, Malaga), Portugal (Faro).

Bristol Airport (http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/flight_information/destinations.aspx): EasyJet plus other airlines: Switzerland (Geneva), France (Bordeaux, Chambery, Dinard, Grenoble, La Rochelle, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Toulouse), Germany (Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg), Spain (Alicante, Barcelona, Gerona, Madrid, Malaga, Murcia, Reus, Valencia), Italy (Bergamo, Milan, Bolzano, Naples, Pisa, Rome, Turin, Venice, Verona), Czech Republic (Prague), Netherlands (Amsterdam).

Getting from Bristol Airport to Exeter there are essentially two possibilities: Bus to Bristol Temple Meads Railway Station, then Train to Exeter St Davids; or hire a car (about 1.5 hour drive). For information on the bus between the airport and train station look here: Bristol International Flyer Information (http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/getting_to_bia/by_airport_express_link.aspx) and Schedule (http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/getting_to_bia/by_airport_express_link/timetable_to_bia_mon_fri.aspx).
